Don McQueen's Bush Poetry recitals have become a feature of conferences, bus tours at the Hume and Hovell Cricket Ground and many guest speaking engagements throughout Victoria. In 2010 Don was again acclaimed the Bush Poet of the Year at the Kyabram Lions Club annual competition, a title which he has held 3 out of the last 4 years. Don was adjudged the same award winner for 2009! Don's passion for Australian history and poetry recitals have has given rise to his invitations to perform at Australia Day celebrations for some years now.

Don is a member of the Rotary Club of Yea and is Past President of the International Fellowship of Cricketing Rotarians. He is a Past President of the Upper Gouldburn Food, Wine and Culture Group and is currently the President of Strath Creek /Flowerdale Business and Tourism Association.

With an obvious passion for cricket, Don has achieved his dream of recreating a 'Village Green' English cricket ground in the heart of the Australian bush. Having carved the Hume and Hovell Cricket pout of paddocks and bushland, he lives to see the ground come alive through matches played by people who share his love and appreciation of cricket in beautiful surrounds.

His involvement in Community affairs is widely known and in January 2006 Don was awarded an Australia Day Citizen of the Year by the Shire of Murrindindi.
